CUTE BABY KINKY HAIR CARE

Children’s hair care is a tricky task, you need to learn about your kids’ hair and also understand your kids activity level.

In this post, you will learn the best regimen and how to carry this out;

1) TAILOR YOUR SHAMPOO REGIMEN TO YOUR CHILD’S NEED

  • You should understand your kids hair type (straight, curly, oily or dry) activity level and age.
  • You should always use a sulfate free shampoo on your kids hair
  • You should wash their hair once every 2 weeks or once a week, depending on how dirty the hair is.

2) PROTECTIVE STYLE IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR NOT WASHING

While washing you should massage their scalp. And if they have dry or itchy scalp, you should do a hot oil treatment for them.

3) USE CONDITIONERS GENEROUSLY

They play a lot especially those that play outdoor and their hair can get really dry, conditioning will help replenish all the moisture lost in their hair.
Because shampooing can be very drying, you can use a deep conditioner first on their hair after shampoo. After applying this, work it into their hair with your fingers, allow to sit for about 10-15 minutes and use a wide-tooth comb to detangle properly. Rinse this out properly.

4) LEAVE IN CONDITIONER

While hair is still done, apply a generous amount of the kids leave in conditioner.

5) Hair oil to massage scalp for hair growth and scalp health.

6) Hair butter for sealing moisture, reducing breakage & shedding, adding shine and improving texture

7) Satin Bonnet & Satin Pillowcase:

Older kids will have no problem with satin bonnets, younger Kids will do better with a satin pillowcase. Satin bonnets/pillowcase are awesome and reduces the amount of tangling that occurs. If your kid is still very young, I.e a baby and you still wear warmers for them, please have a tailor line all your kids head warmers with a satin fabric. This will ensure your kids hair doesn’t get cut in the fabric or gets dried up with the fabric. As we know head warmers can dry out ones hair. Available at the Afrovirtues Store at 89, Ogudu road, Lagos.

8) Daily Routine

in the morning, you should apply your moisturizer to your kids hair, followed by oil to massage scalp and butter to seal in moisture.
In the evening, if the hair still feels moisturized, you can skip till the next day, if the hair feels extra dry you can apply leave in conditioner after daily moisturizer.

9) Detangling:

You should always remember to detangle properly before combing or brushing..
Never comb/brush hair dry.
Use your finger as a comb to detangle hair, this will remove any tiny knots or tangles.
Use a wide-tooth comb to gently but thoroughly detangle hair section by section.
If the hair drys out before you detangle the next section, spray again.
Don’t get their scalp up with petroleum products.

10) Styling :

Styles matter a lot, one style can disrupt all the hard work you put into their hair in few seconds.

no tight hairstyles
*no pulling of hairstyle
*reduce gel
*apply hair butter to hairline

once you start seeing boils on their hairlines or white stuff, take out that style. SHE IS IN PAIN! that might be why she is being cranky.

11) Words:

Stop telling them or anyone in their presence how horrible their hair looks or feels. Let them know their hair is their crown and it should be respected.

CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD.
